I've been rocking my Genus head again for a few days, and while it's still technically in Beta and not released publicly again yet, it has been updated to omega, so I've been experimenting with hairbases, make-ups and other cool bits and pieces. I've worked out that most Logo appliers will work for the head, and that's due to the fact that Logo is omega based.
In other news, I've been really stinking lucky this week, and been invited to three new blogger teams. Now, I don't really know how or why this happened, but I was obviously over the moon when I was approached by the blogger managers for Culprit, Hextraordinary and The Enchantment event.
I don't like making a big song and dance over 'sponsorships' across social media, because I know how it feels to watch someone get a spot you were really hoping for, and while there's always going to be a "Yay congrats!" to them, my stomach does sometimes do a flip flop and make me wonder why I wasn't 'enough' to join that particular team.
The truth is, there are many reasons as to why you are or aren't selected for a team. I still feel like I'm not a 'real' blogger. I don't know if I'll ever be comfortable being all "Yeah, hi. I'm Pickle, and I'm a blogger." I have so much to learn, and there are so many different ways to present items... I just hope I do those who put their trust in me justice, and am terribly grateful to those who have supported my ramblings and pictures thus far.
Tonight (6th August) at Midnight SLT, the doors open and you can shop! I'm always excited for this event, because it brings to light the importance of roleplay and fantasy in the SL community.

There is so much brain activity going on in my head right now I'm kind of struggling to function.
This is amplified by the fact I've managed to completely screw up my sleep schedule! I'm mad at myself, but I know this is just me taking a step backwards before starting off onto my whole "New Pickle" regime again.
I've been joking lately that I'm going through an entire mid-life crisis. I feel like maybe I'm a little bit young to actually have a mid-life crisis, but then I remember that I'm only 19 in my head, and maybe it's completely appropriate to feel like a post-pubescent teenager again, 19 years later. (shh. I'm old ok?)
Ideally, I would use this time to buy a brand new car (preferably something fancy - and red. A Porche convertible, because it is Summer here, after all.) and then I remember I can't drive, so that goes out of the window. I'd also like a toy-boy... but only in theory. I've figured out that toy-boys are lovely to look at, but I don't game, don't like anime, and get tired of innuendos fairly quickly, so I reckon I'll just stick with single-dom until the crisis subsides!

Although I'm wearing it on the Genus (beta) head, there is also a Catwa and Omega applier supplied for the head texture (so you can literally try it with nearly every head on the SL Market), and the body texture is an Omega applier, too! As always I suggest trying a demo before purchasing, as shading positions can vary from head to head.
When paired with these gorgeous eyes from Lotus, I really feel like my Genus head has come to life - which is quite difficult considering the Beta limitations as they are right now. I am so excited for the full release of this head, I can't wait to see what is going to become of this brand!

Adam and I were having a little chat the other day, and while we talked we reminisced about our days at school. It reminded me of a time when I was about 11 or so. I was bought up fairly strictly. I was the first child of three, so I was paving the way for my brothers, and I tested my poor Mum and Dad regularly. On this particular occasion I had been invited to a friends house. My friends Mum was far more liberal than my own, and before dinner we were shoo-ed out of the house and told to go to the park across the road for half an hour to give her some peace and quiet, something I'd never be allowed to do if I was at home. Once we'd got to the park, we were greeted by several people from school - the cool kids.
Now, I've never been a cool kid. I can't even pretend to be remotely cool. I'm too emotional, I laugh too loudly and at my own jokes, even when they're not funny. I've never worn the right clothes or had the right haircut to fit into that particular clique, and for the most part, I was okay with that. However, seeing how accepting they were of me that day, I was eager to impress.
"Let's play a game of tag!" << That was Ross, the cutest boy in my class. And the meanest.
Naturally everyone agreed.
Quickly, rules were put into place. "We're gonna leg it from this wall, to that slide and then back again!" << Ross. Ugh. I hated that I liked him.
But seriously, what the fudge did 'Leg it' mean? I had absolutely no clue! I had never heard this term. My parents were older than most, even then, and no one I had ever been around had used 'Leg it' in a sentence. I wracked my brain for an idea, and finally, just as everyone had lined up, I'd decided I knew exactly what it was.
"Three, two, one, GO!"
Ahh fuck.
So they all start running, and there I am, 11 year old Pickle... HOPPING.
I have no wise words today! Have some pretties from Moss&Mink, Empire, Dappa and Go&See - also, the dress that i'm wearing comes from RLD which ends extremely soon, so if you haven't made it to this round, hurry your butt up and get there before the goodies are gone!!

He's joining today being the Danny to my Sandy, and all I can say is "Tell me about it, Stud!"
We were just hanging out when I mentioned the idea I had for this awesome bodysuit from Miss Chelsea, and he offered to help out so I didn't have to dual log Durex in, and as you can see he makes an "Electrifying!" Danny!!
While I faffed with the photograph we talked briefly about the movie, Grease. It was actually Dox that mentioned the fact that the movie doesn't really have a very good moral to it. I believe he said something along the lines of... "Oh yeah, just change everything about yourself and conform with the clique and you'll get the guy." or yanno.. basically words to that effect... and he's right.
For years I have watched John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John strut through Rydell High, complete with the faux teenage angst, cheery-yet oddly emo songs and inappropriate life choices, but never had I actually considered the content of the movie, and when you actually think about it the whole concept is a little off. But I suppose that's the joy of placing a few well thought out musical interludes into a film, and in a few more years I might be saying the same for the "High School Musical" franchise. :P

If you're around on flickr at all, you'll see that this style of picture is fairly common, but whenever I've attempted to take something similar before I feel like I failed miserably. Although this style is new to me, I needed to know whether or not it was an option for me to investigate... and I'm not at all upset about how this has turned out. It's definitely given me a little more perspective on how to make this work, and that gives me a foothold on future improvements too. Yay for learning new things!
Another thing I did was make my hands bigger. I know I've said this before, but the whole perspective vs proportion thing really does bother me and i'm a lot happier with the size of my hands in this pic, compared to the last one!
Today I will be doing some RL things, which some of you readers will know makes me incredibly nervous. I haven't slept yet, which is probably a poor choice, but I made my choice and now I'm stuck with it because it's 7.30am and I don't have time - plus if I nap I'll only oversleep and that'll be even worse for all the people involved in my escapades outside. Maybe, in a weird way, this picture depicts subconsciously how I feel today. Like "Hey life, fuck you - I'm coming to get you!" and you know what? That just fills my heart with happy.
