Ok, so this vid is a little weird and I think in an attempt to be edgy they might have cut corners.. but I actually kinda like the song, and the vid was just kinda.. unironically ironic and almost cool. *blinks*.
Couple of hunt items available in the blog today. The first mentioned is the MadPea Spring Hunt, and you can find all details on the MadPea website, including the starting point. You grab a hud and run around the grid in search of cute creatures, capturing them on your hud. Depending on the amount of creatures you catch, you can then run back to the start point to pick up some prizes from selected stores.
The second hunt is the Bunny Hop, follow the link to find the starting point. It runs from April 1-14th, with 30 participating stores. It's claimed to be a hard hunt, so make sure your camming skills are amaze!
Hai, I totally forgot what I was doing today and didn't save credits for the pose or the background - but the background can be found at the members only area of Backdrop City under 'retro'! Sorry.
I had a conversation with someone recently that made me think again about who I want to be and where I want to go, and although I feel like without a doubt there have been some positive changes, I do feel like I need to address something that has niggled me for the longest time.
Life isn't fair.
I get that certain people are capable of "playing the game", and therefore they'll be the ones who seemingly succeed, which kinda makes their lives enviable to some... but I can't ever be that person again, if I ever was. The only way I have ever been able to achieve anything is to work my ass off, and as my friend mentioned to me in our conversation, I've worn many hats, especially within SL and whenever I felt like I was heading in a direction that didn't suit me, I think I may have intentionally shot myself in the butt to prevent it from happening. Still, in terms of blogging and photography, no matter how hard I try, how much I think I have improved, my not playing the game hurts me in terms of exposure.
Now, this may seem like I'm sitting here whining that I'm incredibly unpopular, but I'm not. I'm just using this platform as an example of what is changing for me, and how I'm viewing things... and in terms of blogging and many, many other things in my life that I'm not 'there' yet with, I fucking LOVE doing it. Because I love doing this, I will continue to do this. I will not circle jerk and I will stay the eff away from drama surrounding any activity I enjoy. I'm more than happy to work at my own pace now and although that jealousy monster might occasionally rear it's ugly head, it's power is fading daily, and I feel as though each "Congratulations" I pass on to someone else is more genuine than the last.
If others decide to play games, I'll no doubt see it, but it's not my life... it's theirs, and they have every right to live the way they see fit.
If you love what I do, that's a bonus... but I want to hold my head high and walk with integrity.
So, yeah, life isn't fair, but it does give us a chance to show our worth and I'm finally figuring out what mine is. I'm priceless. And so are you.
I've had this picture done for a little while, and often when I go back to seeing a photo i'd edited a while back, I hate it.. with this one, I'm not having that feeling with this, so that's a bonus!
I don't have anything fancy to say, so i'm just gonna give you some credits, okay?
I've wanted to get into vlogs for the longest time, but my confidence was pretty much shot and I really didn't believe I could do it. Yesterday, however, I spent the entire day figuring out how to do this.
It's pretty basic, I uhm and er a lot, I need to work on the volume and there's very light editing and no music... however, I think this is a pretty decent start... the only way is up, right?
I've got a pretty shitty track-record when it comes to walking away from people.
In the past, I have run screaming from those who thoroughly deserved my attention and into the arms of those who didn't. I've seen a side to something I can't quite compute, and walked briskly away, and there's even been a few times that I just walked away because they had told me something I wasn't ready to hear.
I make no secret of the fact I have Borderline Personality Disorder, and apparently this running screaming from the 'right' people thing is something that is quite common for people with BPD. Saying that, I'm also aware that people without the condition (?) also go through this, so then I was left with that "But when is it BPD and when it is RIGHT?" question, pretty much constantly.
Because of that question circling around in my brain, I've learned recently to just let it go. If it doesn't feel right, it doesn't matter if it's my mental illness or if it's a gut decision, after all, if i'm left with a sense of peace when the decision has been made, my life has been altered for the better.
I honestly feel like the amount of people I push from my life has altered dramatically. For a minute, I was chucking bodies left right and centre in an attempt to shovel away that bad feeling, when a lot of the bad feeling was coming from inside me. I've worked on myself (and I admit I'm a very basic work in progress, even after this last year of constant self reflection), and I'm learning my toxic traits and attempting to rectify them to the best of my ability. I will undoubtedly always have traits that certain people consider toxic and I'm never going to be able to please everyone, but for my benefit I feel like I need to leave less of a trail of destruction in my path and aim for more rainbows and butterflies.
Hurt people hurt people, and I don't want to hurt anymore, and I definitely never mean to hurt anyone else.
On that note, have a great weekend, and go grab some quality gear from our favourite SL creators!
xoxo
Revoul have come out with the beautiful Chun Skin. My favourite tone is the RE10, which is the second on the left, but all of these are beautiful! \o/
I know there'd usually be a man-Pickle or at least a Durex in this post, but obviously today they're both missing, and you're left with some nude Pickle butt. Not sorry!
I think I may have discussed this previously, but I have -diagnosed by a therapist- Borderline Personality Disorder and lately, I've been watching some online videos regarding this uh.. condition? Personality? I don't even know what to call it because "Mental Issue" just sounds eeky and like I'm ready to stab someone with a machete at any moment, which really isn't the case... (mostly).
I'm not sure how many of you will identify with this disorder, but I'm sure there will be a few of you that even though you don't have this condition, you may relate on some level, because let's face it, you don't have to be bonkers to feel some type of way sometimes. Anywho, specifically referring to the issues I've always experienced with maintaining healthy friendships and relationships, I've learned that the a lot of the traits I have there are actually borderline traits, and I'd like to talk about that a little. Now, don't for a moment think that just because I'm talking about this, and you potentially identify with something similar that you have Borderline, but if you do your own research and feel like you might, I highly recommend talking to your doctor or therapist and finding out for certain. don't diagnose yourself for lawds sake!
So according to my research, as a person with Borderline, I'm unable to stay in a grey area when it comes to people and their actions... and this has proven to be true a LOT recently. I have a tendency to be either "Yep, they're awesome" or "Nope, avoid", and people that sit within that grey area for me are kinda irrelevant and I am unable to focus on.. but honestly, that grey area is TEENY TINY in the grand scheme of things, I'll either decide immediately that I like or dislike you, or I'll fold you into the grey area of "I don't mind you.. BUT."
There's also the huge issue of being unable to see past black and white, like "Hey I like you today" but when your actions don't match your words, I can't quite compute that, and suddenly you're a terrible person and now I'm ranting and trying to understand why it is I think you're a terrible person when actually, you've only done one minor thing that isn't -perfect- but I can't unsee it and now I'm spiraling and OMG!
So I knew I did these things. More recently, I have been desperately trying to understand why I have always felt like this, and it was only thanks to the accidental youtube binge I went on that I discovered it was most definitely a borderline trait.
Now, I'm not saying that because it's a part of my 'mental illness' it's something that I (or you by proxy) should just deal with - I really don't feel that way at all. However, it does allow me to forgive myself for the past issues I've had with friendships and relationships, and now I'm fully aware that it is part of my brain malfunctioning, I will hopefully be in a position to correct it as it happens.
That being said, it does leave me in a bit of a tizz when I think about it, because now I really do second guess myself, but as I said to Potato a couple of days ago, "When I get that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach about a person, does it really matter if it's just my borderline?" I guess I'll keep you updated!
I may refer to my "Midlife Crisis" fairly often, but it really is a journey of self-discovery, and of self acceptance and improvement. I am not perfect. I will never BE perfect... but I can be better and I really feel like the greater the understanding I have of my mental illness, the more facets of it I can work on, and ANYONE who is mad at personal improvement is just not worth worrying about.
When Bueno popped this building in Collabor88 I got a little excited. My Potato man is of Cuban descent, and we'd recently been talking about the streets of Cuba having tons of old vehicles parked against the sides of the roads. I can't remember the exact reason, because honestly, my brain kind of tunes out anything that has something to do with politics (and I think that's what happened here, something to do with not being able to trade or.. idk?) anyway, because of the weird politics I can't remember, the only vehicles Cuba has are those which are built entirely IN Cuba, or those that have been kept by Cuban people learning how to repair existing parts from cars that were imported back in the 50's and 60's.
I realize that my photography skills for this particular idea may be lacking, but I entirely encourage you to google the streets of Cuba, because without a doubt, the images are stunning.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy Man-Pickle Friday, it's a bit of a change for me, but entirely necessary - have you seen the awesome man-things he's wearing!?
xoxo
One of the big reasons I decided to bring Man-Pickle out on a day that isn't Monday was thanks to this skin by Revoul named Ezekiel.
My head of choice for Man-Pickle for a long time has been Stanley, by Catwa, and that's due to my love of thicker lips and wider noses, plus the chiseling of the cheeks and the squarer jaw that is far easier to achieve on Stanley than Daniel. Luckily for me, the Ezekiel skin accentuates all of those features I love so hard, and above you can see all the tones available from RE05, to RE40.
Here are two of the body options available for the male body, shown in my tone preference of RE25.
On the left is a "Fit" version, and on the right i'm featuring the "Soft". I believe there might be a third option as "Chubby", but I've yet to get my hands on that one, and as soon as I do, I'll showcase it! I for one am super excited about seeing a chubby option for the guys, because who doesn't love a Dad Bod?!
I'm not sure how well this depicts Cuban music, as the Potato's internet went poof, but I absolutely love the shots of the streets and the view of the cars etc shown in the video, so, enjoy! ♥
Hi! I'm making this quick because I've probably baffled you recently with a bunch of skin stuffs and things, but this skybox and set from Bueno is LIFE. Seriously. Big love.
I have tons of things for you today, but before I start, I wanted to address something potentially a little sensitive.
I've been seeing a lot of "My favourite bloggers are..." on facebook lately, and as someone who is NEVER mentioned on these things, it can be a little disheartening. So, for a moment today I went into a bit of a "Fuck, why do I bother?" mode, but luckily, only for a moment.
You see, it suddenly dawned on me again that although I LOVE the opportunity blogging gives to me, I don't actually do it for other people. I do it because -I- love it. I do it because I've been able to watch myself grow and evolve over the three year period I've been doing it.
Like most people, though, I do have the terrible habit of comparing myself to others. I'm not the greatest, most talented photographer out there, but I have watched as I improve, and I always attempt to show the products off in a light that is flattering and real, and along with the content I provide in my blog, I'm actually incredibly proud of what I've achieved.
The other thing that suddenly dawned on me was that although I've had nobody on facebook shouting my name from the rooftops, I've had incredibly artistic friends of mine compliment me lately, and although I know that they're my friends and part of their job is to blow smoke up my ass occasionally, I am actually starting to believe their praise, that is pretty effin' cool!
The moral of my rant is, regardless of your position in terms of appreciation for what you do.. do it. Whether you're someone who can fart and be congratulated for your work, or whether you're someone who rarely gets noticed, if you're enjoying it for heavens sake, continue to do it! Don't be scared of new things, and continue on with what you love, because you really can't please everyone all the time.
That said, happy Tuesday and have some more info!
xoxo
The Ariana skin from Revoul is available at Kustom9 NOW!
It's got 7 possible tone ooptions, each one as beautiful as the next.
Not shown here are the "no eyebrow" version, and that's just because i'm lazy, and also because I'm sure it doesn't take much to imagine the skin without eyebrows. :P
The skin comes with Genus, Catwa and Omega appliers, but once again I suggest a demo before purchase!
Here's the deluxe body options available at Revoul! I'm using the Belleza freya body here, but there's appliers for Belleza, Maitreya, Slink AND Omega for that other body you love but no one provides support for! :P
It's worth a quick reminder here that shape ALWAYS plays a big part in how a skin looks, and that includes with your body. I'm sure it's obvious that there are shading differences on the stomachs here, however, if your skinny body was actually skinny, the skinny applier would look skinnier. Get it? The same goes for the chubby and pregnant versions too.
Personally, I find these incredibly realistic, and I'm absolutely floored that Revoul can offer such different body types done to such a fabulous standard.
