How easy it is to be sucked into the negative!
I heard somewhere that for every bad thing you hear about yourself, you hear 13 good things that you glaze over because you've taught yourself not to believe them, so now, whenever I hear someone who doesn't know me say something bad about me, I'll try to recall just five nice things I've heard from people who do know me.
Don't get me wrong, I know I have bad points, but let's face it, unless it's coming to you in the form of asked for constructive criticism, it's going to often appear like an attack... which will probably put the initiator on the defensive, and there's your argument start point.
I won't argue anymore. I can't. I'm too tired.
Instead, I'll internalize, and most of the time I'll come to the conclusion that when it really, really isn't me initiating the negative, it says more about them than it does me.
I'm joined today by a super special guest, Cielo Capalini. She owns and creates for the Moss&Mink brand, but more importantly, she's one of my very best friends!
Our meeting was... awkward. Giving both of our personalities, I think that awkward was really the only way it could go... but it turned out for the best. It was a while ago now, blogging was still new to me, and Moss&Mink had only participated in one of the Fantasy Gacha events, but Cielo had made a gorgeous set revolving around faun legs, and I was so excited to blog it when I got it, it really had made me incredibly happy, and when she wandered into the sim I was standing on, said hello and I realized who she was, I'm almost ashamed to say I fan girled all over. It was NOT my finest moment. I am SO glad we met, though, and despite my literally epic squealing fit in her IMs, she saw past that, and we have grown together.
I'm always amazed at how she comes up with ideas, and how she will literally transform something into her practically trademarked style, She seems to be an unending, magical bucket of creativity, every time you reach in to take an idea, that bucket fills up again and she's off running and lightspeed with her beautiful brain exploding colours and meshes all over the place.
The thing I admire most of all about this gorgeous lady, however, is her never-ending willingness to learn. When she starts talking about what she wants to do next, where she wants her brand to be... sometimes it takes my breath away a little and I am honestly in awe.
Anyway, she's my friend and you can't have her (i'm kidding, kinda), and that's that.
When Bueno popped this building in Collabor88 I got a little excited. My Potato man is of Cuban descent, and we'd recently been talking about the streets of Cuba having tons of old vehicles parked against the sides of the roads. I can't remember the exact reason, because honestly, my brain kind of tunes out anything that has something to do with politics (and I think that's what happened here, something to do with not being able to trade or.. idk?) anyway, because of the weird politics I can't remember, the only vehicles Cuba has are those which are built entirely IN Cuba, or those that have been kept by Cuban people learning how to repair existing parts from cars that were imported back in the 50's and 60's.
I realize that my photography skills for this particular idea may be lacking, but I entirely encourage you to google the streets of Cuba, because without a doubt, the images are stunning.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy Man-Pickle Friday, it's a bit of a change for me, but entirely necessary - have you seen the awesome man-things he's wearing!?
xoxo
One of the big reasons I decided to bring Man-Pickle out on a day that isn't Monday was thanks to this skin by Revoul named Ezekiel.
My head of choice for Man-Pickle for a long time has been Stanley, by Catwa, and that's due to my love of thicker lips and wider noses, plus the chiseling of the cheeks and the squarer jaw that is far easier to achieve on Stanley than Daniel. Luckily for me, the Ezekiel skin accentuates all of those features I love so hard, and above you can see all the tones available from RE05, to RE40.
Here are two of the body options available for the male body, shown in my tone preference of RE25.
On the left is a "Fit" version, and on the right i'm featuring the "Soft". I believe there might be a third option as "Chubby", but I've yet to get my hands on that one, and as soon as I do, I'll showcase it! I for one am super excited about seeing a chubby option for the guys, because who doesn't love a Dad Bod?!
I'm not sure how well this depicts Cuban music, as the Potato's internet went poof, but I absolutely love the shots of the streets and the view of the cars etc shown in the video, so, enjoy! ♥
I have so many THINGS to show you! I'm actually not even going to attempt to waffle today, instead I'm going to show you the things, ok? Ok!
So Moss&Mink came out with a couple of fabulous additions recently... the first is "La Piche Moussue" in collaboration with the Peaches hot chocolate set that I showed you somewhere.. maybe >Here< ? Anywho, the store is bloody gorgeous. So gorgeous that I'm keeping it full time on my homestead. Twice. Not only does it include the building which I've kinda shown in the first picture (you can unlink & remove the snowy top, so the store can be used throughout the seasons), but it also comes with matching inside pieces to mix & match too. There are three versions of the store, a white with red trim 'Nordic' version that is perfect for the Holiday season, the 'Worn' Blue shown, and a white and gold trim 'Clean' option... along with a selection of different coloured matching counters and displays.
There's also the super cute Sleigh, which has an unlinkable snow prim not shown. It has tons of animations in for both singles and couples, and I can see this being a welcome addition to any home or garden during the winter months.
In other stores, Miss Chelsea has provided this snug cardigan and tee combination in two colours (Sold separately) for 50L friday. Yah, it's Saturday, but I checked a couple of hours ago and it was still available for the special 50L price! I really love the detailing of Miss Chelsea's items, and this cardigan has such cute elbows I almost squealed!
The Native Urban Sneakers can be found at Uber, and have an insane colour hud! Well worth the price point, and definitely one to put in your shopping cart!
Eyeshadow : Veechi (I'm really not sure which one, but it's a liner and it's probably for LOGO head because that works with the omega system in the Genus head)
Sometimes, it's easy to look at things with the wrong perspective.
I say this knowing that my journey is still a process, knowing that I'm still learning to see things with a positive eye - however, since I have been actively trying to become more positive I have definitely noticed changes.
I've also noticed an influx of people who don't want my life to excel, who are so stuck in their own misery they are incapable of wishing someone - sometimes someone they don't even know and have never spoken to - well. All it takes is a nod and a smile to be positive. You don't have to offer up words of encouragement, but keeping your negative and abuse laden comments to yourself is in itself a positive step toward thinking differently.
I can definitely be one of the most judgmental people you have met. It's taking me a butt-ton of patience with myself to re-teach my brain that this isn't appropriate. Many of us, as humans, have been through some excruciating times and been put in situations you would wish on no-one. Bob Marley is rumored to once said
“Who are you to judge the life I live?
I know I'm not perfect
-and I don't live to be-
but before you start pointing fingers...
make sure you hands are clean!”
Not one of us is perfect. We have all been broken. We are all stitched together the best way we know how, sometimes with care and love and other times with self loathing and internal anger. You know which way you have been stitched and only you can make a difference in how you see yourself. Projecting your insecurities on another does no good, you're simply spreading your negativity in a vague attempt to bring someone down to your level of misery.
Make a choice today, and decide to show love. Project hope. Give off positivity.
Also, love yourself. You really do deserve it. ♥
xoxo
