Today I was reminded about a thing that happened back when I started SL over 10 years ago.

Back in the day, you were warned consistently about the dangers of the internet. "You might be talking to an axe murderer, a pedophile, a rapist." it was scary to me to log in and speak to people who might be absolutely terrible. I was also in the middle of a big ol' break up, 500 miles away from home with a small child and no way to get back. I didn't like myself very much and because of that, when I joined SL, I gave out pictures of a person that was not me.

Over time, it became harder and harder to tell fibs to people I cared about. because you really don't expect to start feeling real feels for people on a game when you first start using it, do you? You don't understand that these people you meet aren't imaginary, they're real... with real lives that they might share with you, while you're sat there telling a porkie pie to them. You get to know them, and all the while you have this big black cloud hanging over you,  "What if they work out I'm not me?".

I'm incredibly lucky. Of course, when I came clean there were a few people who dragged me, and rightly so - however, they didn't actually know me, and I had always felt a little off around them. 

The people I DID care about (and some that I had no idea even knew who I was), were incredibly supportive, and now I realize that my outer shell is what it is, and I can't change that - but my inner shell... that's the important part, and if I can find people who love me for my insides, those are the friendships and relationships I need to nurture.

To anyone going through something similar, keep your head up and be proud of who you really are. You are not your body. You are a combination of every experience, every feeling you have and every feeling you have allowed others to feel.. you're a beautiful, interesting, original and unique soul. No one is you (even if they claim to be by using your pictures!), and try to remember that everyone is going through something, and while being a catfish isn't right, there are often underlying issues that need addressing and as with most situations, it should be bought up and talked about with mindfulness & kindness.

When I saw this artwork by UnKindness I inwardly squealed.

Overthinking? Why yes. Yes I do!

I can literally overthink ANY subject. Seriously. Give me a subject!

While I don't necessarily enjoy the overthinking thing, I do definitely see some benefits. Apart from people regularly saying "You're thinking about this too much." I honestly believe that the way my thought process works is actually kind of beneficial to me.

Because of my amazing brain, I am now capable of talking myself IN to a situation I would have before avoided and vice versa.

Overthinking has granted me open-mindedness, I can see situations from many angles, and decide upon a path correct for me while considering all sides. 

The struggle I have is the stubbornness that occurs once I think I've thought about everything from all angles. See, when I've made my decision, and it's actually a decision and not just an "Okay im gonna do this for now", it is incredibly difficult for me to sway away from that, and I'll do everything within my power to stay doing what I said I was going to do. 

I'm currently overthinking this entire Pickle-rant, because it very nearly took an entirely different spin and ended up thirty paragraphs long with a detailed conclusion - so before that happens, I hope you enjoy today's Man-Pickle Monday, and allow your brain to take a breather. If you learn how, let me know... I'm almost certain mine is exhausted!

I feel like maybe Man-Pickle may have reverted to Boy-Pickle for this bloggy, but I'm kind of digging the entire look.

It's been a bit of a running joke that I could make the perfect fuckboy - and I think I might have proved that assertion correct, however, if I'm gonna be a fuckboy, I'm gonna be the best damn fuckboy SL has seen. So i'm officially introducing you all to Durex, my partner. Now, don't get too excited, he's not some brand new loverboy - but he is definitely going to get some Pickle action! He's another alt of mine. I'm sure some of you who do photographs have the same issue that I do, in finding partners who don't want to jump all over your naked pixel bits as soon as you suggest a picture, or who are available when you need them... so I figured it was about time Durex got a make over so that I could abuse his presence.

Yes yes, there's still a Man-Pickle... and he will still make appearances - but Man-Pickle is on my Girl-Pickle avatar, so taking photo's with him was almost impossible. Am I making sense? *flails*

Anywho, having the option of a delicious Man-Dolly running around in nothing but a pair of undies is never a bad thing, is it?

So I want to do a shout out to K&S poses again. They're not a "sponsor" of mine - this is legitimately from a customer standpoint.

A while back I had an issue with a couples pose. I IM'd the owner (KatyaSessions) and explained my problem, and she literally went above and beyond trying to help me, even tp'ing me to view the issue herself. Unfortunately neither of us could work out why I was struggling with said pose - and everyone else who had tried it out and used it didn't suffer the same effect I was getting, so I still firmly believe there was something I was wearing that was causing the weirdness that happened.

Anywho.. it basically renders that one pose useless to me, and as I left, thanking her profusely for her time, she was extremely kind and sent me the above pose as a gift - "To cheer me up".

I love her poses, always have... and to know that I am supporting a creator who is genuine, who will go the extra mile for their customers fills my little heart with happy, and she will always have a fan in me.

I had an entirely different idea for this outfit, I figured "Oh hey, it'd be really ironic to put this hair on, with those naughty pants, and do 'sexy lumberjack'", but the truth is, Man-Pickle just looks far too good to be ironic right now. Instead I'm doing "I'm at my girlfriends apartment, having a quick pee and a last look in the mirror before I go into the bedroom and seduce her". -shrugs-

I chose a Michael Jackson song for this picture. Mainly because the title is "Man in the Mirror." I was apparently 8 years old (shh, I'm getting on a bit), when he performed this at the Grammys in the video shown below. I admit, although I've always enjoyed MJ's music, I've never really watched his older videos. I guess they're all older now, because he's passed and I'm OLD. However, this particular song has always been one of my favourites.

When I was a child I had a keyboard. It taught you how to play popular songs at the time with a little red light on the keys. The light lit up when you were supposed to press down, and the only thing you had to do was to remember the rhythm. This was the only song I knew at the time, and I soon learned how to play the basics on the keyboard by religiously (and probably rather annoyingly for my parents) repeating it. It wasn't until I was older that I actually understood the lyrics, and not even then did I comprehend the massive impact MJ must have been having at the time by bringing world issues to the forefront of people's minds.

I guess we'll never really know the struggles this amazing artist went through, or the truth to the controversial issues we've been privy to, but I can't deny that even now, 30 years on (groans inwardly, 30 years!!), Man in the Mirror still makes my skin break out into goosebumps, and that's a pretty amazing feat.

I knowwwww. Technically it's still winter, and here I am taking a photo in the sunshine!

I can't be the only one who gets tired quickly of snow/winter. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful when it's first fallen, but the reality is that once I've stood in it for 5 minutes, I'm over it.

I will happily agree to be chilly rather that super-hot, but that's only because you can't peel your skin off when you're warm, but can add layers when you're too cold!

So here we are again, tanning & relaxing on a beach. I think Man-Pickle would make quite a good lifeguard - just look at the way he's keeping an eye on what's going on! In my opinion he's definitely got a bit of a head-start on David Hasselhoff... but maybe I'm biased. Also, totally showing my age!
