Hi! I'm coming to you from the future... or is it the past now you're reading it? I'm not even sure. Whatever!
Today I've done a little bit of soul searching with regards to what is cultural appropriation, and what is cultural appreciation. Firstly, I want to make 100% clear that this post was made with love and good intentions, in response to a sponsor (Big up the FGC!) and their Wild West theme.
Immediately, I felt like this was erring on the side of awkward because of the potential for "appropriation". However, I plodded forwards due to the fact that I absolutely adore and have the utmost respect for all cultures... however, I can still be ignorant to those cultures, and that is NOT okay.
Today I found out why the Native American theme could potentially have blown up big time, and why I needed to come and explain things here and it's mostly to do with the headdress.
From what I have gathered in my small amount of investigations, is that the Native American Headdress is reserved for Elders, it is not just a cultural "costume" but it also has heavy spiritual connotations attached to it. By wearing a headdress when you are NOT an Elder, and using it as a costume, it's considered offensive because you are belittling the garb that the deserving person has worked an entire lifetime to achieve.
I am leaving this post up as a reminder to do my effin' research, and to lightly educate if anyone ever reads this far back into my bloggity blog. I sincerely apologize for my ignorance. That said, please enjoy the credits!

I'm really not in a very good place today. I'm okay. I'm just sad.
I've always had trouble making and maintaining friendships. A lot of that is due to my being a hard-headed, stubborn and opinionated Pickle, and I know I'm not for everyone... but it makes me crazy when I step back and actually figure out that a lot of the problem is that I'm just incapable of accepting people as-is, rather than looking at them in terms of potential.
Yesterday, I spoke to a woman who reminded me of a very toxic person who was in my life for 2-3 years on and off. She kind of reamed him a new asshole, but the only thing I could think of was how sad I was that I couldn't make him a better man. Trust me - he was horrible. He manipulated me on more than one occasion by pretending to be someone else, cheated on me and told me on Christmas, made me wait for him for 6 hrs on my birthday and was generally just a butthead... but there was a part of me that wanted so desperately to make him good, to have him understand that people need kindness, and I thought that by accepting him, flaws and all, I would be able to do that. I was wrong.
I know this makes me sound like a martyr, but there's been many times where I have pushed the 'right' people away because of a bad situation I was in.. I'm not perfect in the slightest.
I just feel like right now, I've gotten to the point where my little bubble is shrinking rapidly. and as much as I would love to allow every single human into it, I'm incapable. I've become more difficult to please, and while this might seem like a good thing, that i'm picking people who fit me and MY needs right now to stay, it also makes me feel incredibly sad because it's like a part of me wants to give the whole world the benefit of the doubt, and because I'm me, I can't.
Again, not sure where this is going. I suppose I'm just venting, rather than hoping any of this makes sense.

So i'm officially introducing you all to Durex, my partner. Now, don't get too excited, he's not some brand new loverboy - but he is definitely going to get some Pickle action! He's another alt of mine. I'm sure some of you who do photographs have the same issue that I do, in finding partners who don't want to jump all over your naked pixel bits as soon as you suggest a picture, or who are available when you need them... so I figured it was about time Durex got a make over so that I could abuse his presence.

Yes yes, there's still a Man-Pickle... and he will still make appearances - but Man-Pickle is on my Girl-Pickle avatar, so taking photo's with him was almost impossible. Am I making sense? *flails*

Anywho, having the option of a delicious Man-Dolly running around in nothing but a pair of undies is never a bad thing, is it?

So I want to do a shout out to K&S poses again. They're not a "sponsor" of mine - this is legitimately from a customer standpoint.

A while back I had an issue with a couples pose. I IM'd the owner (KatyaSessions) and explained my problem, and she literally went above and beyond trying to help me, even tp'ing me to view the issue herself. Unfortunately neither of us could work out why I was struggling with said pose - and everyone else who had tried it out and used it didn't suffer the same effect I was getting, so I still firmly believe there was something I was wearing that was causing the weirdness that happened.

Anywho.. it basically renders that one pose useless to me, and as I left, thanking her profusely for her time, she was extremely kind and sent me the above pose as a gift - "To cheer me up".

I love her poses, always have... and to know that I am supporting a creator who is genuine, who will go the extra mile for their customers fills my little heart with happy, and she will always have a fan in me.

So I had no idea what I was doing today and took a nap before deciding to write this. Sometimes, you're in such a negative headspace that the only way to deal with that (for me) is to sleep it off and stop being such a giant misery-guts. So that's what I did... and thankfully, I feel much better.

I've spent the majority of today trying to come up with a name for the new club area at Consent, we're needing something gritty, urban and sexy... that obviously works with the whole theme of the current environment. However, all of us involved are at a loss and I know that I just keep circling around calling it "The Box". Which doesn't really sound very enticing. I think we need to think a little more haha.

Let me just squee about this dress from Miss Chelsea for a moment - I'm so in love with it! Very often in SL you get the idea of something transparent, but the rigging is slightly off and the clipping that occurs is terrible - but with this dress, I've not encountered that at all! My hair didn't even do that weird alpha thing, either! Also, the cute empire boots are beyond perfect for this. Just chill & sporty enough to match! Check out the LMs below.
