I have a busy day today! I'm quite excited, actually.

Back in around May, I shaved my head. It was something I had considered for about 6 months.Thankfully, it wasn't because I have suffered any kind of physical sickness, but more because my waist length hair had been left uncared for, and the only way I could think of to make everything better and actually begin some kind of self care routine in terms of my hair was to start over. It was around a number 5 when I shaved it, so no, not all the way down to the scalp but pretty darn close!

I have never had hair shorter than my shoulders before, and my hair had definitely become a way for me to hide. I would pull it forward and use it almost like a curtain. If I can't see you, you can't see me... kind of like how I imagine Peek-a-boo works with babies!

Shaving my head was incredibly scary, but also strangely liberating. If you haven't already watched "Nappily ever after" on Netflix, I thoroughly recommend you do, whether you have afro-style hair or otherwise, her journey is inspiring.

Anywho, today my hair has gotten long enough for me to actually get it cut into some kind of style.

I'm hoping for a Pixie-like cut, kind of like Emma Watson from "The perks of being a wallflower", but I'm not a Hollywood actress, nor am I in my early 20's, so we'll have to see exactly how that works out!

The location for today's shoot is a mystery, and will be revealed upon it's completion. I know, you can barely see a barred window, but who doesn't love a little mystery in their life??

The last couple of days have been a bit odd for me.

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I have been numbing reality with avoidance, which makes complete sense given my issues... but it's the self-awareness that I didn't have before that now makes everything so obvious to me.

About a week ago I was given some news about someone who used to be very important to me. I loved them with my whole heart, and unfortunately, circumstances that could have been avoided by communication meant we ended up parting ways.

The news isn't good. In fact, from what I'm hearing it's terminal.

At first, I followed the path of what I've done before, immersing myself in nonsense to stop myself from feeling too much. Today however... today I am shrouding myself in sadness and so far, the tears haven't stopped falling.

There aren't many options available to me. The second-hand information I'm receiving is basic at best. There's no certainty about time, and it's very possible I've already lost someone who is in part responsible for me attempting to get my shit together.

My heart is heavy, and I need to gather my thoughts.

Hold the ones you love dear. Cherish every moment and for goodness sake, don't shy away from telling people how you feel. All we have is a collection of moments. Don't let them slip away.

I saw a post today on SL Facebook about how someone wanted to burn all the pink.

However, as I commented there, sometimes I just want to wear and be surrounded by all the pink things.

Ok, so we all know this story by now, and if you don't, you really need to get on this shit and watch The Breakfast Club. I mean, it's been out for like 35 years, so you don't have any freakin' excuse and it's also on Netflix (watching it again now as I type!)

It's the quintessential 80's movie, which, if re-booted today, would still hold up in terms of story lines and characters. Perhaps those simplistic labels would be different, but the labels would still be there.

I had to think about this outfit from Miss Chelsea.

I mean, I knew it was based around the "Criminal" character, but I've never really dabbled in being that person.. and although it comes with an amazingly cute "Guilty" choker (optional), I swapped that out with the "Loner" one from Quirky purely on the basis of that is  how *I* see myself.

I feel like we can all be a little of everything - and I think this entire outfit has pushed that out of me, to the point where I didn't even realize I was encompassing almost all of the labels mentioned in that letter until now. 

Pickle the brain : I like words. I like creating images with words. Not particularly good at retaining information, and give me a maths problem and I'll immediately get out a calculator or take my socks off to be able to use my toes to count higher, but I'm not stupid (all the time).

Athlete : To be fair, the only thing you're going to catch me running for is more pizza, but I do wear trainers/sneakers a lot? :P

Basket Case : This one appeals to me! Hi! I'm Pickle, and I'm fucking crazy!

Princess : Dabbling in make-up, painting my nails, keeping up with fashion? Yes please! This is an INNER me though, in RL at least. SL allows me far more creativity to be girly and pretty sometimes, and I don't feel weird when I wear all the pink things (again, sometimes!)

Criminal : Although I've never done anything over-the top, I think we all done something we shouldn't have. Maybe something morally questionable, or uh, you know, something your parents wouldn't have liked *coughs*, yeah. That'll do.

When I was small, my family had a caravan by the beach. I use the term beach very loosely, because once again, I remind you this is England, and what was considered a beach was actually about 3 feet of stony/sandy toot with some kinda greyish water.

My Dad asked me to go fishing with him in that awful grey water one day, and I jumped at the chance. I must have been about 13, and he often took my brothers but rarely thought I would be interested. My middle brother had managed to catch an eel a couple of weeks previous, and I wanted nothing more than to prove that I could do better. "Want to bait the hook?" my Dad asked. I died a little inside and shied away from that pretty sharpish.

My Dad bent over to get a maggot from the tupperware pot he used, and what do you know, two £10 notes flew out of his pocket and started to blow down the beach. "What are you just standing there for? RUN!" << My Dad.

So there I am at 13. definitely not a track star, running down a dingy British beach, chasing after £20. I legit run the entire length of that fuckin' beach, and it was like something out of a comedy. I get close, I smack my foot over where the note should land and of course, the wind picks up and off it flies just out of reach. How did I know it was the end of the beach? There's a chain-link fence leading onto a private military area, and the two notes - instead of getting stuck on that fence like they should have - somehow slid right into that private area.

I am devastated. My fishing trip with my Dad has been ruined, and he's going to shout at me. I'm sobbing because even then I'm an emotional wreck. After walking lethargically back to the fishing spot, my cheeks stained with tears and sniveling rather pathetically my Dad stands there with his hands on his hips and says... "I didn't expect you to run THAT far!"

Luckily in SL we have pretty beaches, and fishing is usually rewarded with prizes! The only thing you're going to lose your linden to are the absolutely stunning fashion finds featured right here in this blog! :P (Totes imagined myself as a TV host there. NotSorry)

I feel much better today, almost at 100% functioning and I'm sure that given another good sleep I'll be back on it with all my spoons and ready to reach out. To those who have given me a poke, made me giggle stupidly and generally been around the past couple of days (even in the background while I gather myself and ignore you completely) I am grateful!

Today's picture I actually took and edited twice. Something about the first one didn't sit right with me after the quality I feel like I've been producing lately it felt like a back-step, so rather than just pumping a bunch of crap out, I took a step back and redid it.

I'm SO glad I did, this is a much more me picture and I wasn't hating it while editing, which to me is an absolute blessing!

I think that many people have forgotten about Whole Wheat, or just don't utilize it like they used to. For those who aren't aware, Whole Wheat is similar in design to Backdrop City. The difference is that the scenes contained are entirely created by Mr Toast & a couple by his lovely partner lady Tea (Seriously, can you get a cuter freaking couple than Tea & Toast? I mean, #goals!) I say entirely created, but for the most part the scenery itself is readily available across SL. Toast is a Sim Designer, and he sometimes spews a bunch of his creativity across his own little parcel - Whole Wheat (get it? Toast? Bread? WHOLE WHEAT? Ugh.), there are several smaller sets over a couple of floors and maybe 3/4 larger ones, spaced out. If you join the group (for a small fee of 150L), you're able to rez your own props and poses and optimize the cute set ups available there. WELL worth checking out!

I'm loving everything about this picture. I hope you see progression as I work, as I really am trying to improve consistently.

When I was little, my Grandad had a greenhouse. I don't remember being allowed in it too often, mostly because it was his pride and joy - we were free to run riot anywhere in the garden except his vegetable patches and the greenhouse and because Grandad was Grandad, we listened. On the rare occasion he beckoned me in, he would show me his seedlings, his big, masculine thumb and pointer finger, covered in dirt, delicately holding these tiny little tomato plants (usually) or sometimes the beginnings of marrows or carrots before they got transferred outside to finish growing. 

He's long since passed, but I'll never forget looking up in that greenhouse, and seeing streaks of sunshine coming through the cloudy glass. I remember at one point he cursed (and Grandad never cursed), because one of the neighbours children had kicked a ball over and the glass pane had smashed on the roof, and all I can picture is the bright blue of the sky through the gap, which is incredibly unusual for England!

I was talking to my good friend Juni yesterday, wondering how decor bloggers do this, and wanted to challenge myself a little. I know I've done big posts in the past with lots of decor, but I feel like so far, this is the closest I've come to actually succeeding with something outside of -my- box. I thought "Surely it'll be easier for people to label their pictures with notes?" but on pondering that for a while, I just can't see how that'd work either, because no matter how I label it, there might be some confusion as to which product is which, so I settled on doing it via store-name. Hopefully that way it'll be quicker to sort through the piles of things I've used in this post!

I've also switched up the side-by-side inworld pics I usually do. I've almost always tried to use shadows in those images, but I've never been content with the way they look and have felt for a long time that they just miss the mark. I've done away with the shadows, and am now using CAIWL windlight, on ultra, nothing fancy, and I much prefer the finished product.

I'm not the greatest when it comes to keeping up with people in world. I can be distant and very introverted, hiding away on my platform or my farm (maybe I'll explain that one day, but for now I'm just going to drop that there) and doing my own thing. I tend to stick to a very small circle of friends who have proven over time that they are reliable and personable and I think that's the case with a lot of SL users now.
However, I'm also of the belief that if you make a commitment to someone, or a cause, or event, you should 100% follow through with that commitment, or vocalize the fact that you no longer want to be a part of that, yet sometimes it seems that communication can be an issue for people, and that is what starts to become frustrating.
In terms of blogging, there have been a couple of instances where if I hadn't spoken up, I would have lost some amazingly creative "sponsors" (I kinda hate that term and I'm noting this down to speak about at another date too), and there's also been at least one notable moment where I have 'lost' sponsorship over a misunderstanding, and upon attempting to find out more information have come up against a brick wall.
I suppose it's important to learn when it's a good time to back away, to rethink, rebrand and reboot part of your life, be that SL or RL and though it is always nice to receive a reason as to why someone has 'let you go' or moved on, it's not a pre-requisite, and sometimes you will not get the response you hope for.
Other times, you'll get just enough to learn from and improve on, and it'll give you the boost you need to grow, so I guess it all evens out in the end. ♥
