I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to write here today (as usual, I suppose), but I decided to pick up on the Dappa Scars set and open a dialogue that I think is glossed over quite regularly.
There's a pretty big difference between self-harm and masochism.
From a personal standpoint, I find it difficult to understand either of these actions, but I am aware they exist, and where the Dappa tattoos may look beautiful in terms of SL, they would be extremely scary for me to witness on a friend irl.
I'm pretty ignorant to all of this, honestly - and please read the following knowing I am not an expert, but this is merely an opinion.
Self-harm is usually a way to feel, to keep control of a world that is spinning wildly on it's axis. It's about relief or a distraction to stop you from overthinking a certain subject. I'm sure there are many more reasons for hurting yourself, but ultimately it's a means to peace, no matter how brief. I can't say I agree, but I will attempt to be sensitive to those who self-harm while suggesting they seek some kind of help, even if it's just opening up to someone on a regular basis.
With masochism, it's an enjoyment of the pain. It's not about hurting yourself through shame or lack of control, but because the pain is erotic, or serves a purpose. Masochists will often hook up with people who enjoy inflicting this kind of pain, Sadists. The relationship between these two kinds of people can be pretty explosive from what I gather, but please be aware this is entirely different to abuse. Consent will feature highly on the agenda of the couple, and the pain is not inflicted so that the Masochist feels worthless or less than, in fact it's very often a way of showing love and affection.
I realize this isn't for everyone, and honestly, you approach me with a razorblade, a knife or ask no matter how politely, to punch me in the face and I WILL run away as fast as possible, however I do respect that some people need this type of a relationship to function.
The only, only reason I mentioned any of this is because I don't want it to be "cool" to cut.
It's not cool. It's very uncool.
There is also a very fine line between S&M and abuse, and if you feel negatively about the type of relationship you're in, please think carefully before you allow it to continue.

Go&See has produced a fantastic new skin for catwa - called "Isla".
It's available in two exclusive tones - Witchy and Moonly along with a usual tone, Pale.
I absolutely love all of these tones, there are very slight differences - pale is definitely more pink, witchy has a slightly greeny-blue undertone and moonly is more luminous.
I was gonna write a massive rant about flickr vs blogs today. Again.
But,
I realized I'm just a salty bitch... so you're gonna be left with this, instead.
Whatever you do, do it for love.
Some people are going to accept you. Other people aren't going to understand the importance of what you do... but so long as you aren't doing what you do to specifically to hurt others, keep doing it.
Keep on keeping on until YOU don't love it anymore.

Hold on to your knickers, today's post is full of information about the products shown!
Back in September, DRD started a series called "Light and Dark" running on the concept of a subscription box. Over a period of six months, they released one mystery box per month, which you had to sign up for every month and pay for every month. At the end of the six month period, if you had managed to grab each of the boxes you were promised a light and dark building to match with the furniture as a bonus.
Not only have I been absolutely wowed by the furniture on a monthly basis, but I am also stunned by the buildings now too. When I logged in today and received the final box, I almost literally ran to DRD as fast as my pixel-legs could carry me, wearing my Subscription hud, I made huge grabby hands at the vendor, receiving my bonus houses. I. Freaking. Love. Them.
I know I'm only showing you a small portion of the latest box, in the light version, but this set is undoubtedly worth every single penny I paid for it. I'm never upset by the quality of DRD, and this is no exception. With the ability to rez the builds inclusive of furniture, or to create your own scene using the subscription boxes you've received previously, this is a fantastic end to a 6 month journey I took on an off-chance. Love.
Now let me just squee over this dress by Bueno. I say dress loosely, because as you can see by the main photograph, I've removed the shirt to add my own. Automatically this becomes a staple in your inventory, because it's now capable of being glammed up for a night out, or worn to visit your friends who don't like seeing your tits at every opportunity. (Although, who doesn't like tits?)
The skirt comes in several colour options available separately or in a fatpack and with it, you get a hud for the shirt (shown in pictures above) with a bunch MORE colour options for that (Yes, there's even more than those shown in the picture!). It's literally the mixiest and matchiest thing ever! You can even change the zippers through different metal textures too!
Finally, there's the pose from Go&See. I love how creative Go&See is, and the store reflects the different interests extremely well. Whether it's poses, eyes, skins, or add-ons, the quality is always there. These poses are from the *cool* range, and will be available at Chapter Four from the 4th February.
SL is a little busy for me right now, what with commitments I have made to friends, Consent stuffs and attempting to help the Santi with his new exciting project, so I don't have a whole bunch of things to say, except go to Whimberly! I can't believe I've never found this little gem of a place before, but it was abso-stinkin'-lutely adorable!
I have to admit I was kind of mad when lady-on-the-horse popped in and stood in the background forever and ever, but actually, she made a rather stunning little focal point, so I'm not mad anymore at all! Sometimes, it's just little details like that which make all the difference, and actually end up enhancing something, regardless of your initial idea for a picture.

Appearances can be deceptive.
I've learned that you really can't judge a book by it's cover. As much as I love to see a fully put together avatar, I'm far more open to finding a fully put together heart now.
For me, outside appearances are now a bonus.
I would rather meet a new player with a pure heart than an old player with a twisted mind and some pretty pixels.
Trusting is no longer easy, for many of us. We have been burned. We have been mislabelled by reactions we've had to situations caused by the malice of others. We're pigeon holed by those labels and fight to free ourselves daily. While I believe we are many things to many people, the only person who ever has a chance of really understanding us, is ourselves. Unless, we open up.
I want nothing more than to continue being brave, opening up to people and allowing them in. Encountering all their pain, and molding it with mine in a bitter sweet reminiscence that brings us close. Not sheltering each other, but leaning against each other and saying "I understand." Because with most situations you have encountered, another would have been there too.
I'm incredibly grateful to the people I have met lately.
You have all taught me to be strong, and have unintentionally assured me that yes, there IS still good. Yes, there ARE still people who believe in the basic morality of humanity and consideration to others and their lives.
